The Caland bridge
The Caland bridge is a steel lift bridge that is part of the Betuwe
route and forms a strategic connection between the Botlek and the
German Ruhrgebied. The old lighting equipment constantly broke
down due to the intensive and heavy road/rail freight traffic and the
strong wind. This caused unsafe situations for road users.
Besides this, maintenance of the lighting equipment was highly
disruptive and very costly.
In early 2008, QL induction lighting systems were installed on the
Caland bridge, housed in IMT’s 165W Helios luminaires (heaviest
model of IQL luminaires). After the installation everything keeps
functioning and this enable to guarantee the safety on the Caland
bridge even better.
